Character design for a video game I'm building called the Mayflower Project.
I've done a few other designs for this character, so finally deciding upon the final design, I just kept working on this till it got to the point where it could be used for promotional artwork for the game as well.
Well, overall, it is by far better than anything I could ever do. I'm still struggling to un-cartoonify my work.
But the left leg has issues. It is shorter, smaller, and the shape of the outer thigh has something wrong with it that I just cannot define. It doesn't look right, but I couldn't tell you why.
Her jawline is also questionable, though at the angle you chose it is only noticeable because the underside of her nose is visible where the underside of her jaw is not. Either her jawline is scalloped on one side, or there is a trickery of lightplay going on that conceals this.
One last thing... she looks like she has a... um... boypart in there.
I don't mean to bring you down... just my artistic opinion. Other than those things, this looks very good. I like her hair, and the gun, and the posture of her upper body. (I also kinda like the outfit!) The background is also epic win, all the fuzzy haze and the contrasting blacks, reds and blues, but blending in the way that only clouds could. I once saw the sky look painted on, and I wondered if it weren't that instead, I had seen painted skies look real.
This is one of them.
Good work... very good work. Just needs some minor touch-ups, is all. -AE
Thanks for the critique, I'll probably go back in and try to flatten out some of the highlights and shadows to make sure no one else thinks she has a... er...
How did you the textures on the white part of her suit ? It looks very very nice^^
Glad you liked it!
hehe you are welcome^^
And I really love the background.
