This page has been up fro quite a while, but I have to add that the inclusion of the Recon Helmet issued to the ONI Op (ala Dare from H3: ODST) Mac a long with the Scout paldrons is just ridiculously awesome.
I love the fact that you've included non-standard issued items into the mix to give a much more realistically well-rounded "reality" to the multitude of equipment available to the UNSC symmetric troops as well as the asymmetric troops so it's not just "relative" to the Halo: Reach game "universe".
If there's one thing that's always bugged me about the games, it's that they change the equipment in each game without including the previous equipment sometimes and yet add the new variations of the equipment to "Canon" even though they're really just an updated version of the exact same gun for game-play reasons.
Some of that I think comes from one studio doing so many of the games, and wanting to add new content - but are also limited by what they can do in the game. As in, Bungie couldn't make a bunch of different character models to feature all the previous equipment for example, due to deadlines and diskspace. At least that's what I like to think.
But I totally agree, and I think right now's a great moment for 343i to not let much more of that kind of stuff happen. For example, I don't want ANOTHER iteration of UNSC marine armor without explanation. Figure out how to bring all the variants we know at the moment into a concise configuration and meaningful explanation (Earth-central armor, Outer Colony armor, might be one way to categorize it). If they add to it, add to what's there, do not just make up something entirely different.
If you look at 343i's latest book release, the Essential Visual Guide, they've actually done a great job at making sense of a lot of the equipment and its variants. I think that's a good sign for the future, if they're spending that much effort on the categorization of past content.
